Time for a new edition of Making it Yours!
Our homes tend to come together over time, with special pieces of furniture finding new uses from room to room. What may start out in your bedroom might later move to the family room, only to wind back in your bedroom paired with other furniture and accessories a decade later. Good furniture should work with you and your changing taste, and with that in mind, I created the Making it Yours (MiY) series.
For this edition, I was inspired by this French Modernist Armchair. At first, I was more interested in the dresser it’s paired with (spotted while flipping through the Wisteria catalog), but as I kept coming back to the image, I realized that I was actually drawn to the chair too. It’s not a style that I typically go for, but it is beautiful. It’s also versatile, making it the perfect candidate to design a series of looks around.
First, we have the chair in a living room with a bright green sofa and loud floral curtains. The chair’s rounded lines are balanced by strong lines elsewhere, and there’s a fun play of patterns with stripes, florals, and polka dots (my favorite mix!) represented.

It’s a lot of fun to put these rooms together for fictional spaces and people, but I would take this whole look right now. Soon we’ll see the chair in two other designs, intended to follow up on this look (so you’ll see some of the same pieces used in different ways, just as we all do in our own homes). I hope you enjoy following along!
